Duct Rodders are a crucial piece of cabling equipment used for various purposes in underground installation. From cleaning ducts to locating paths, threading lines and pulling cables, the frequent use of a duct rodder often leaves it subject to wear and tear. This can complicate the job or even reduce the productivity of the crew.

GMP Duct Rodders combine ease of operation and reliable performance to help increase the efficiency of your rodding operations. Using the highest quality material, we produce the most durable and long lasting duct rodders in the telecom installation industry. In this blog, we’re taking a closer look at the duct rodding equipment we offer to make sure you’re getting the most value from your duct rodder.

What Make GMP Rodders Different?

GMP duct rodders are considered to be the highest quality rod currently on the market, and for good reason. We pride ourselves on creating the highest grade rodders, known for their strength and durability.

Our fiberglass rod is not pultruded like many other rods on the market. Rather, they’re produced using a proprietary process where glass fibers are strictly unidirectional with optimal fiber density of 80%. The fibers are fully impregnated with resin, followed by bi-axially wound with hi-strength filaments.

Our rod is then finished with an orange, UV stabilized, polypropylene thermoplastic jacket. This gives our rod excellent handling characteristics throughout its long life without the pultruded reinforcement fibers that can appear over time in other rods.

GMP Duct Rodders are lightweight, durable and corrosion resistant. The Duct Rod material will not soften or lose tensile strength in hot weather, nor become brittle under cold conditions. Each Duct Rodder Frame assists the payout/pay-in of the rod material by using an eyebolt with a nylon bushing designed to help protect the duct rod from abrasion and premature wear.

Rodder Carriers

When loaded onto our durable yet maneuverable carriers, these duct rodders are essential tools for underground tasks. Our carriers are made of tubular steel and are powder coated for corrosion resistance.

Larger diameter carriers are equipped with inboard wheels for easier maneuverability at the jobsite, and each carrier is fitted with a hand-operated brake to control payout.

Rodder Ends

GMP Rodders come with a male threaded end fitting and tapered head on the leading end and a female threaded fitting on the backend. The accessories are easily changed out to meet the need of the job at hand.

Flexible Leader – This helps maneuver around corners effectively.

Roller guide – Over an existing cable or empty conduit, the roller guide reduces the amount of pushing force required.

Swivel Coupling – This coupling rotates freely to help prevent rotation of the rod when being pulled, avoiding any twisting or breakage that could occur.
