GMP’s Fiber Optic Pulling Capstan (15472) is a versatile and highly productive tool for placing fiber optic cable. When GMP’s array of fiber blowing equipment isn’t the right fit for the job — when placing cable in corrugated duct, for instance — this pulling capstan will help you get cable where it needs to go without fear of overpulling and possibly damaging the cable.
Its durable construction and minimum number of components give it a remarkably long, trouble-free service life.The large working diameter of the capstan translates into good pulling speed and you can pull with rope, tape, or pull the fiber cable itself. The Fiber Optic Pulling Capstan can used as a mid-assist puller if the capstan provides at least the minimum bending radius of the cable.
GMP offers a line of several lightweight aluminum alloy capstans from 25 in (635mm) to 40 in (1016mm) in working diameter. Any of these units can be easily mounted on the industry standard 2 7/16 in. (62 mm) diameter drive shaft with either a bayonet or a cross pin type of connection.
GMP Capstans are offered with a torque limiter between the drive spindle and the inner hub, factory set at the rated values, but may be calibrated to other torque values, if requested. They are also available with a steel shaft and no torque limiter for no-slip applications with a maximum rated load of 1500 lbs. (6672 N). Capstans can even be used with Fiber Optic Cable Blowers to help place longer lengths of cable without splicing.
