GMP has always prided itself on providing the widest range of cable blocks for aerial strand work. Whether you need a cable block for new construction or overlash work, GMP has the right  cable block to do the job well. This blog is a two-part series: the first is dedicated to blocks for new construction on bare strand between telephone poles. The second part in the series will cover the best blocks specifically designed for overlash work.

Cable Block with Rubber Roller (10701)

The Cable Block with Rubber Roller is the definition of simplicity and efficiency. Built with capability in mind, this economical block can accommodate cable up to 2 in. (5cm) diameter. The aluminum alloy frame is sturdy and durable, and the roller is made of rubber. GMP also offers a sister block (10700) with the same aluminum alloy frame and the roller is made of an aluminum alloy.

The D Cable Block (72680)

The D Cable Block embodies quality and performance with a frame and sheave made from 100% heat treated aluminum alloy. It’s designed to support a single cable up to 2 3/4 in. (70mm) in diameter on bare 1/4 or  3/8 in. (6-10mm) strand.

Perhaps its best feature is the built-in bi-directional cam lock mechanism that locks the frame on the strand. This system prevents movement while pulling in cable. The cam releases the block when pushed by the lasher from the other direction. The roller includes high-quality bushings allowing it to spin extremely freely.

The 75000 Cable Block

The 75000 Cable Block is built to mirror the capabilities of the D Cable Block. However, it is specifically used for smaller sized strand of 1/4 in. (6mm). The frame and sheave of the block are made from a durable cast aluminum-magnesium alloy. It also has the powerful bi-directional cam lock feature that locks the block on the strand but allows movement when pushed by the lasher.

The Fiber Optic Strand Locking Cable Block (70022)

This heavy duty fiber block is used for supporting a single fiber optic cable up to one inch diameter onto a maximum strand size of 3/8 in. (25mm) prior to lashing. It’s particularly recommended where a higher level of security is required—such as crossing roadways or waterways.

The Mini Cable Block (01315)

This versatile, economical block supports any cable up to 1 1/4 in. (32mm) in diameter including coaxial cable, up so you can use it in CATV cabling. It has a steel frame, coated for corrosion resistance, and it has a molded rubber roller with a steel insert for smooth operation.

The 4-Roller Cable Block (38100)

The 4-Roller Cable Block is also used for cable TV construction, but it allows you to place multiple coaxial cables at the same time. It’s a lightweight tool with a durable aluminum frame built to accommodate four 1 in. (25mm) cables on its nylon rollers. The block also has the bi-directional cam lock feature that locks the block on the strand but allows movement when pushed by the lasher.
