General Machine Products employs some of the best in the business. Our outstanding employees help us achieve all that we do and we are grateful. We are proud to highlight our committed staff in our monthly employee spotlights. This May, we would like to honor our  Manufacturing Manager, Chris Benton.

1. What is your role at GMP?

My role is to help people succeed at their job and make their work day easier and more productive.

2. What drew you to GMP originally? And how long have you worked at GMP?

A year ago, when I started at GMP, I was working for a good company, but my job was not challenging and I was making little impact. At GMP, this is completely different. Everyday there are processes to be improved and challenges to overcome. For me, the fun is growing a company and making the working conditions better for each employee.

3. What is your favorite part about working for GMP? / What has been your favorite project so far?

Being apart of a great team and making GMP a better place. My favorite project so far has to be the improvements we made in the Duct Rodder area. These improvements have drastically reduced our Duct Rodder lead times, which allow us to better serve our customers.

4. What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I like to travel and explore places off the beaten path. One summer, a friend and I took a 10,000 mile trip around the United States on our 1930’s era motorcycles. We did this trip almost entirely on back roads and avoiding interstates as much as possible. There are a lot of fantastic things to see in this country.
