From hand hole to manhole, the Sidewinder is a simple, functional solution for fiber cable pulling, perfect for any contractor installing telecommunication cables. Trailer mounted, the Sidewinder is self-contained and can be easily towed by a pickup truck. There is no need for a separate power pack or capstan, meaning it’s easy to get production started every time.
Versatile and straightforward, the Sidewinder is easy to use. The 32” diameter capstan offers a 16” bending radius that helps prevent damaging fiber cables. Likewise, the controls allow you to easily adjust the tension at which you pull, with a maximum pull limit of 1,100 lbs. The Sidewinder can pull at speeds up to 200 feet per minute.
Similarly, the Sidewinder is adaptable to your needs. The capstan can rotate up to 90 degrees, for storage during transit. Moreover, the capstan can be set at 45 degrees allowing for figure 8-ing alongside the unit.
The Sidewinder also features a take-up wheel, driven by an independent hydraulic motor, specifically designed for stowing and reusing your pulling line. Detachable on one side, the take-up wheel tidies your pulling line into a coil, saving you money as your tape or rope can easily be used again and again.
The Sidewinder is customizable to your needs. The unit can be equipped with a lunette ring or a ball type coupler. Additionally, you can outfit your Sidewinder with one of four optional lighting adapters, suitable for the tail light plug you need. The Sidewinder can be supplied with a remote start option, so the engine can be started from the operator’s panel. The Sidewinder can also be supplied with an external hydraulic porting option. The hydraulics can be used to operate a dewatering pump to drain a manhole or the hydraulics can be used to power a cable blowing machine.
