If you’ve ever wanted to find, follow, or map detectable duct rod and copper-based cable without digging or trenching, GMP’s traceable rod detection technology (88273) is built to do exactly that. The toneable duct rodders that can be traced with this technology are available in 3/8″ or 1/2 ” diameter, and the rod can be up to 1200 ft. in length.

GMP’s traceable duct rod has a copper conductor built into the center of the rod. The detectable rod is used in conjunction with both a signal transmitter and a receiver. The easily identifiable signal is transmitted along the conductor through the entire length of the duct rod to be picked up by the receiver.

The receiver is an industry standard locator and provides fast, accurate, and reliable readings of the rod’s location along the duct run. The receiver also features a high-contrast, backlit LCD screen that provides the user with clear information. The intuitive and responsive interface is designed so the operator can access features with ease.

The transmitter, also an industry standard, has 3 watts of power and provides 7 frequencies including 33 kHz. The transmitter also features a backlit display. Direct Connection Leads and a ground spike come standard with the transmitter.

When handrodding, using GMP’s Powered Duct Rod Pusher (89004), or our Ramrod Powered Duct Rod Pusher (88900), the receiver will detect the signal transmitting from the rod. The path of the duct rod can be traced from where the rod goes into the duct, all the way to where it comes out.

A sonde, a small self-contained transmitter, can also be attached to the end of the duct rod, to follow the duct route in real time as the rod is pushed through to the conduit. It can also be used to help pinpoint duct blockages or collapses should they obstruct the run.

Traceable duct rod detection is a powerful new tool— its uses are only limited by your imagination.
